When I was a kid, my parents taught me to kick and punch.
I’ve always liked to use my hands, which are always on the ground.
So when I came to learn karate, I thought I’d have to do a bit of training to become a master of the art.
But after months of study, I’ve found I can actually get my kicks off with my bare hands.
Here are some things you can do with your bare hands, no gloves required: 1.
Stand on a flat surface and let your bare hand hit the ground with a flick of the wrist or fist.
2.
Take a deep breath in and out to calm yourself.
3.
Do a series of six- to eight-foot kicks that move you forward and backward in an arc, like a tennis racket.
4.
Hold the kicks as long as you can, then slowly release them, so you’re moving forward again.
5.
Start with a single kick, then gradually add kicks to each side.
6.
Keep your arms close to your body, and your back straight.
7.
Don’t forget your legs, your hips, your shoulders, and even your elbows!
8.
The best way to keep your kicks in your hand is to hold them out to the side, then back down.
9.
Make sure your hands aren’t over your head or over your belly.
10.
Use your bare feet to propel your kicks into the air.
11.
Keep a distance between your legs.
12.
When you’re kicking, put your foot on the end of your kick.
13.
Take it easy on your kicks.
14.
Try to keep a constant rhythm.
15.
Do all your kicks at the same time.
16.
Practice kicking for three minutes before a match.
