Recode has learned that Netflix has signed a deal with Warner Bros. to stream movies with titles like karate and martial arts films.
We’ve reached out to Netflix for comment.
The deal comes as Netflix has become increasingly reliant on streaming to survive.
Netflix has struggled with piracy of its shows like House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, but it’s also facing a backlash from fans who have taken to social media to complain about the service’s lack of action movies and karate films.
While the deal doesn’t specifically target Netflix movies, Warner Bros.’ movies are some of the company’s biggest hits, including Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League, The Lego Movie, Wonder Woman, and the upcoming Spider-Man reboot.
Netflix’s films include The Defenders, the second half of the Batman film series, the upcoming The LEGO Batman Movie, and The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, among others.
